you wouldn't get this from any other guy

i think somebody rickrolled me in my sleep. i woke up this morning and in the shower, the first rendition on queue was "never gonna give you up". i even worked in the little hip shake move. if i had been more awake, i think i might have tried to run up a wall and do a flip.

i seem to have found a tiny bit of creative energy today. i revisited the track i've been playing with and thanks to some rhythmic shaking of car keys, i got it to sound a little more organic. like a caravan of gypsies carrying all their worldly possessions across a wasteland. well, probably not like that at all, but that's what i had in mind.

i finally got around to looking at arab music. i was thinking some more random key mashing might lead me somewhere but right now i'm kind of stuck. i'm hoping a look at the music theory will give me some sort of direction. it's really fascinating. the note intervals are half the size as in western music which opens up a lot of room to play with. and get lost in i guess. on the other hand, i might just need to give this thing a rest, move on to something else, and come back to it later.

maybe i ought to have a go at a rick astley remix...
