with the radio on

i took another walk this afternoon to have some tea and read a book. walking out every day is nice exercise and it gets me away from the computer. having discovered macgyver on you tube, i might as well have gone out and bought a tv because i'll find myself watching two or three episodes in a row which amounts to two or three hours of being a floor potato, an even more pitiful cousin of the couch potato. shame on me.

i came home after having some dinner but it was still early and i didn't want to waste any more time on the internet, so i went out driving around. i actually found a way to drive for about an hour and not leave the town. it turns out colorado springs grows east and west instead of north and south along the freeway. i took turns down roads i didn't know and really lost my sense of direction until i found some streets i recognized and found my way back home.

driving around at night and listening to music while getting lost is an old habit of mine. my mom told me that when i was a little kid and i couldn't sleep, she'd take me out driving, put on some country music, and i'd be out like a light. i haven't kept the country music part, but i find it very relaxing to just wander and have a cd on. i wonder if in a previous life i was a gypsy who lived out of a wagon and played the violin by the campfire before going to bed.
