well, it's been t-shirt and jeans weather all week, but today it dropped below freezing again. the low tonight is supposed to be -13C. i was on my way out this evening to have a little walk downtown but changed my mind after having a few snowflakes land on my head.
i had gone out and bought some groceries earlier today so i thought it would be a nice opportunity to stay in and make some dinner for myself for the first time this week. i got the saucepan out from the oven (an ingenious storage trick i learned from my friend i-shuan) and heated up some canned new england clam chowder. i made sure to buy a can that had a tab to open it because i wasn't sure if i had brought my can opener up here. a few minutes later, i had a delicious hot meal.
i am counting the days until the end of my contract here. seventeen. three months have gone by pretty quickly. i can now claim to have worked on a product that will actually be manufactured and that someone will pay money to buy. that's kind of satisfying.
after my contract is up, i'm planning on sticking around for a couple weeks to try skiing. i've never done it before. i'm hoping i won't have to buy much gear. i was shopping for some ski pants that were all priced around $80. i went to the mall and found some on sale for $20. not bad, eh? i also bought some warm socks that were priced at $14. how does that make sense?
one more day off, then back to work.
