boring thoughts on taxes

some people are in hockey season, i'm in tax season. i finally got around to estimating how much i'm going to owe the IRS this year and i'm much relieved to find that i don't owe as much as i thought.

while i was diligently working on this tonight, i got a little distracted and read the article on taxes on wikipedia. walter e. williams has an interesting quote in there saying, "the difference between government and thievery is mostly a matter legality." another interesting find was an article called "tax freedom day". the tax freedom day of a nation is the calendar date after which you've worked long enough to pay your taxes for the year. in the US, this day is the 113th day of the year.

a better diversion was looking up the beatles "taxman" on you tube. at least nobody is telling me "1 for you, 19 for me" yet.

i've been a little braindead these last few days. i hope i have something more insightful to write tomorrow.
